I feel violated! I thought this was a safe haven from commercial predators. I understand the need for revenue to support the site, but I hope the advertisers are local, and even better, local independents. I'd hate to be greeted by Tesco everytime I log in. Come on Farrow and Farrow, Hertfordshire Graphics et al, snap up those spaces.

Nora, are you using Norton Internet Security - which includes a personal firewall - or just Norton Antivirus?

Actually, thinking about this further, the advertising could be quite useful. I want to be one of the first to know when a certain deli (who shall remain nameless unless they pay for advertising on the forum [;)]) has Braughing Sausages on special offer, or a new supply of Stinking Bishop. TCM should also have an ad with the dates of the Farmers' Markets on it, as this is an oft asked question on here. The Marquee should promote their gigs - again, an oft asked question. And I for one would be overjoyed if a certain public house would take out an ad promoting its quiz nights, open mic, etc. so that we don't have to revive tedious threads with the info. How flexible is the advertising, Admin? Can advertisers change the proposition daily? Weekly?
