Eyesore in North Road
The Mercury has covered this for a couple of weeks now. As I understand it, this development was decided by a planning officer rather than the development control committee. Was this the same planning officer who had two of his recommendations rejected by said committee at their last meeting? And doesn't this call his judgement into question?

See Bone's letter in today's Mercury. I liked the comment that the staff at Waters keep their blinds down to avoid looking at the new building! It certainly is vile and considering the furore a while back when The Three Tuns (now the Thai place on St Andrews Street) was painted yellow, mentioned by someone else in the Mercury, it is astonishing that there hasn't been more protest.

There has been more protest. Someone fired an air-rifle pellet through one of the top double-glazed units. The damage has only just been repaired. I'd imagine the blank walls with easy access to North Road will soon prove popular with Kilroy and others.
