Heard this on the Radio Four news at 5:30. At that point they reckoned a thousand or so vehicles had been stricken.

It said on ITV news that BP ultimate petrol is safe. I filled up with Esso Supreme today so am hoping that is safe also.

I will need to fill up my ickle Micra shortly.. whilst I think she's a great little car, I don't think BP Ultimate will make her go any faster !!!!! Seriously, what about Jet Garages, I use the one at hoddesdon a lot and BP's do the reports think they are ok????

BBC news says it's just Tesco and Morrisons. I think I'll stick with Sainsburys for now! [:D]

And how would they propose that? All cars are fitted with anti-syphon filters, so it is a fuel tank off job. Would probably cost more than any damage caused! For the time being keep your tank full from a (reportedly) safe source! Topping up will reduce risk if you have dodgy fuel on board.

I drive one of the most effected cars (Mercedes) and I filled up at the Rush Green BP (regular unleaded) yesterday afternoon. I've had no problems at all. However, I had to pop into the Mercedes dealership in Hertford on theway home and it was HEAVING with broken down Mercs. They all need their oxygen sensors replaced and Merc UK have run out!

I'm one of those that has had their sensor packed up..... last filled my car up at Tesco opposite where I work! I think the reason why there are so many instances of Tesco on this is because so many people fill up at Tesco PFS's due to their popularity, getting clubcard points and cheap petrol.... The thing that gets affected is the Lambda Sensor, I had to pay out over £150 on repairs this week.

Sorry Steve, should have started with. If you have a damaged car it's time! It won't be as easy as telling Tesco how much they owe you. As it's a no fault claim, you will need to go through your insurance. Some contributers have claimed damage done, or damage to friends vehicles.

But he did eventually beat the bullies! I have heard of people trying, on and off for 3 days to get through to the number advertised. That's why insurers can help, they will ask for admin cost's and have a larger 'profile' than us the public. Good luck.
