Tescos - fire engine and ambulances
Tuesday 10/4/07 - 1.30pm
Just drove past Tescos and it is sealed off with fire brigade, ambulances and Police there. The car park entrance is taped over and no-one can enter though it looks like there are lots of cars already in there. No smoke to be seen though.
Any one got any idea what is going on?
Traffic already backing up down Mead Lane and to town but the road is fully open as far as I can see.

Looks like someone has crashed into the lamp post by the disabled parking bays.

They managed to land on top of the little fence in front of the disabled spaces, partly crushing the bonnet of one car that was parked in the space. They were still in the car when I came out of the store with the firemen in there too - I hope they are ok. Not sure how they managed to end up there.

It was probably the usual able bodied person rushing to block a disabled space so they could save 10 metres off their walk!

Conversely, it could've been caused by the old fella with the disabled badge who we saw turn right at the mini roundabout just before the crossing in Tesco's car park and then drove OVER THE TOP of the raised paving that separates the parking bays from the access.
Blissfully and sublimely unaware!
