Four or five kids, aged about 12-13, doing stunts on their bicycles in the middle of the road outside M&S Simply Food, seemingly oblivious to traffic. After hearing the language they were using I decided it was best not to approach them and called the police instead.

Very good 60s. In addition to all the things they're not, they probably ARE the Cast of ET who regularly hurl themselves up the middle of Fore Street into the oncoming traffic, and then tear along the pavement on The Ware Road 'cos "We could get killed in da road..."

quote:You must remember that some of the language these kids use today is actually street slang for something completely different and in there world is cool and hip.[:D][:D] God I wish I was up there with the Hertford massive in my hoodie and baseball cap the wrong way around.[:D][:D] Did the police attend to drag them off for a slap like the good old days..Anyone remember PC Pearman (80`s)

The language I was referring to featured a number of words of one or two syllables starting with F.

Witnessed Monday. The usual crap drivers, using the left lane to turn right to Mead Lane/Ware road from London Road.

quote:Confused, not sure what you mean? Do they hover, then fly? Mead Lane is a while away from London Road or Old London Road even. How does a car get to turn right from London Road and end up in Mead Lane? There is a roundabout, traffic lights etc.

I think you do Evel Knievel a disservice, he was a hard working good guy http://www.evelknievel.com/bio.html

It could have turned into a serious activity had a member of the public become involved. The initial risk with the road anyway but also the risk to anyone voicing their opinion of the behaviour. I'm sure, if not in attendance the Police would prefer to be aware of the situation. Where do you start to gague the seriousness of an incident?

This morning at about 11.10 there were two delighful young boys of about 12 years of age, running across the road between the traffic from Bluecoats to get onto the roundabout at the bottom of London Road. From there as I was driving towards Gascoyne way, they ran in front of me onto the traffic island at the bottom of the hill. A long blast of the car horn which is guaranteed to grab anyone's attention, brought the time-honoured middle finger response and what looked like "F**k off." I'm sure that everyone who saw them was both amazed and impressed by their articulation, aliteration, gesticulation and cascade. It was hard to tell where they would go to next - hurl themselves in front of the traffic to run along the side of Gascoyne Way? Run into the oncoming traffic coming down London Road? There would seem to be no doubt these little buds of Hertford's future manhood are already displaying early symptoms of negligible gentalia and the onset of scant regard for their own, as well as anyone else's safety.

I'm suprised you didn't call the police.
