BMW convertible driving along Railway Street from the Lord Haig towards the bus station, up on to the pavement and into Providence Court to avoid the no entry sign at the junction by The Snug.

As I slowed down and indicated to turn left into a town centre car park the other day, a car (I didn't get time to see what make it was - it was too fast!) *undertook* me on the left - it drove *across* the pavement - as I was turning in toward the car park. This was also approaching a junction. I was so gobsmacked and the car was so fast I was unable to get his details. It's lucky I checked the left mirror before turning left and slammed my brakes on just after initiating the turn, and also most contrary to the new thread I have just started in this topic about most Hertford drivers being relatively competent.
Be safe. There are many good drivers out there - the idiots are in a minority - but always, always, keep a very good lookout because you just never know...
