This may not be specific to Hertford but I think it is useful to post here anyway so I hope Admin will allow it. We have just found fraudulent payments taken out of Mr G's account on his debit card. Now we are always very careful about how and where we use our cards and giving out our personal details etc but somehow someone still got hold of his details. Mr G very rarely uses his acrd outside the Hertford so we don't know where the details were 'leaked'. It would appear that this is a widespread scam as when we reported it our bank knew all about it, were very helpful and quick to start things rolling to solve the problem. However just in case anyone else has had their details leaked through a local source I thought I should post here. Basically fraudsters are using peoples' details to subscribe to a gaming site based in the USA called 'Warcraft' (the one that has been advertised on the TV recently). If it happens to you it will show up on your statement as 'blizzard-ent*elecupgrd 800-592-5499'. The pattern seems to be that 3 payments of 19.99USD (around £10) are taken out of an account on the same day. Our bank seems to think that these fraudsters then try to set up direct debits that are of small amounts that go unnoticed. Anyway if you see anything like this and haven't subscribed to the Warcraft site yourself it probably means you've been caught too! Check your statements folks!
