In this particular case "penthouse" can be taken to mean "Attic conversion because the planners wouldn't allow another floor." Suitable for people who like to congregate on a pile of furniture in the middle of the room or stand in window alcoves (aspects).

Come and take a walk down the corridor of my life at the moment.... Me and my family looked at 6, yes 6 , properties in one day last week.We were shown properties costing 425,000 which were basically 2 up , 2 downs with loft conversions in various guises. The Estate agents will tell you that "All properties go for the asking price in Hertford". Its very hard to find anywhere that offers any sort of value , especially in what is , potentially , an inflated market. Ive bought and sold three times in the town , Ive never known it to be so bleak.Is it just the time of year ?

But of course, Hertford has a lot more to offer than a village in regard to ammenities. So you have to weight it up. But looking at the price of the flat at the top of the thread and I'm guessing young families will soon have no choice.

If you think that's expensive.... We looked at a 3 bedroom converted flat at the bottom of Port Hill that was neglected, bodged, very unsafe in one memorable instance, like a rabbit warren, with the most terrifying amount of flat roof you'll have ever seen in your life with evidence that it was replaced without repairing the leak/rot damage it initially caused, no parking, no garden, rear access through someone's warehouse/workshop and was listed as requiring a "budding enthusiast" for some updating. More like total renovation gutting. All for the princely sum of £250k. We reckoned it would require £50K for us to put it right (we're not builders!). For between £250 & £300k we'd be able to get a freehold house, with more amenities, in a non-Money Pit condition! It's not on Right Move any more so must have sold. We wouldn't have offered more than £200k.

It sounds like you're out to get me. I bet I can find something out about you too, with just a few clicks of the mouse. I don't like villages, people who live there, people who go there, or people who come from there. And the same goes for cities. Actually that's rubbish but it's just that so many people always try to prove that the grass is always greener somewhere else, instead of seeing that everywhere has its faults and that what we've got is already pretty good.

There is a house for sale near me for a little under 1.5 million, it has been on the market for some time and the price has been reduced, it is still not sold as far as I know. It is very unusual for a house in this area not to sell quickly so I am thinking that must be one of the most over priced.
