Save The Children Shop
I see in the Mercury that Save the Children will be opening a shop in Birchely Green, probably some time next month. Whilst it's good to see an empty shop being used again, can Hertford really support another Charity shop? We already have four and three of those sell a fairly similar range of donated goods. Is this new one likley to specialise at all I wonder?

Well at least we have plenty of choice, but would have been good to see something else go in there.

Is it going to be permanent or just in the run up to Christmas with the range from the catalogue does anyone know?
Seem to remember them using empty shops for the Christmas period before.

charity shops don't pay rates so it makes them more affordable places to run. For me, increasing numbers of charity shops and betting shops usually indicate the beginning of the end of a high street.

For me empty premises that no one wants indicate the beginning of the end for a high street. Good luck to save the Children, better their using a unit and helping to bring trade into town, than another empty shop
