The petrol station at Rush Green is closed (I've noticed in the past that they seem to have ongoing supply problems). Does anyone know if Hertingfordbury Road is open?

I wanted to fill up this morning but Bengeo has no fuel again ...........like Shunt I feel use it or lose it, just hope the delivery is soon

As for Esso, here's probably not the place to start a debate on multinationals and climate change but they certainly are the worst of the lot. Try googling 'stop esso' or go to the Greenpeace site. I stopped giving them my money about 7 years ago.

Ah, the Esso gas flare thing. Which oil company behaves worse than another depends on who you ask. Greenpeace has only one agenda. The other companies are no better, but their transgressions are more in the area of human rights and exploitation, which Greenpeace conveniently ignores. It's almost impossible to buy anything and be universally "ethical". Of course I'm sure you are aware that the manufacturer of the petrol in the tanks doesn't often match the sign above the forecourt any more than the electricity in your house is made by the company printed on the bill.

I know other companies get up to stuff too, but Exxon-Mobil fund a host of (alarmingly succesfull) right-wing lobbyists, plus scientists who's job it is to try and disprove the fossil-fuel link to global warming. They also fund the Republican party. I'd rather take my custom elsewhere if that's alright.

According to hubby no petrol today only diesel! (Saturday 19th)
