It is with sadness that we have to announce the death of one of our most frequent posters, Tigger, who passed away peacefully on Tuesday 22nd January. Her husband, also a member of the forum, who posts as Capitalist Piglet, said: "She will leave a massive gap in the lives of the many who know her". We would like to extend our deepest sympathies to the family and best wishes for the days to come.

This is absolutely tragic news. I never knew her personally, but respected and shared her views. Her massive contribution to this forum which added vibrancy and picturesque volume to the lovely town of Hertford as we know it will not be forgotten. She'll be sadly missed. I don't know if I ever met Tigger in the years I've spent in Hertford. On this forum we get to know people quite well, but without ever knowing how they look, their age, state of health, or associations to others. From what I know of Tigger from this forum she was a lady of dignity, strong minded, but not unecessarily confrontational. She will be missed here.

I only knew Tigger through the forum, and met her when she came along to give her welcomed support to the launch of The Hertford Town Partnership. I was very shocked and saddened to hear the news today. Can I thank you all for all your thoughts & wishes, both to those who have posted & those that have spoken direct - believe me it helps. The notice is in the Mercury today - service at Stevenage Tuesday 5th, 1145 with a celebration afterwards at the Old Barge. And yes Shunt you did meet her, among other times at a party in Riversmeet a few years ago - Tigger being Tigger I think she got you dancing! Still have the photos!!

CP - Compo and I would like to make a donation in lieu of flowers - where do I send it please? The announcement mentions charities but sometimes the funeral director will make a collective donation.

Thanx Nora. Much appreciated. The two charities are Macmillan Cancer Support or the RNLI so any donations can be sent to Powells or direct to either of these. (of course a McMillians shop is in Maidenhead St)

She was the life and soul of the party and will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Keep your chin up CP, as I am sure she will be keeping her eye on you!! Tigger. Ahh Tigger. She made me laugh, she made me grimace, she made me look fat, she made me cups of tea and she made me go to the bar. Tigger was working behind the bar the very first time I went into the White Horse. She was offbeat, every so slightly daft, but entirely warm. Her initial delightfully un-selfconcious conversation with me that day helped begin a relationship I had with the White Horse that amounted to a third of my salary. What it cost in money was nothing to what I got in fulfilling life experiences. I thank you for your part in that Tigger :o) Nighty night Tigger - Now who's gonna stop me and Capitalist Piglet fighting every time we have mushrooms?

I hope these boards were quiet this afternoon because so many poeple who knew and loved her were at Harewood Crem and Old Barge. So good to see so many people who I know and I knew knew tigger. So hard to say goodbye; with so many friends around. If that is how you are judged then tigger was with the best of them. Thanks to Simon at the Old Barge for such a good spread. Many friends stayed till the last. I'm sure tigger was there; and she owes me a pint!![:X]

I can echo Sloop's comments. Thanks to all who came & celebrated Tigger's life & to Simon fo his generosity. Last ruminants seen in the vicinity of the WH at @ 1145 , the temptation to revisit the Barge for just one last one was fortunately resisted…. Thanks again guys.. many people who had never heard of this forum will now have visited to read your comments. And to Kim who ran the humanist sevice & Powells who showed great compassion & professionalism . ....Oh & Herbert was last seen very, very, carefully making his way up the Folly at 9 this morning cluching his head..... Tigger would have been proud![:)]
