Mayor of Hertford's Charity Run
On 6th April we will be holding a new event 'The Mayor of Hertford's Charity Run'.
This is the first time Hertford has hosted a running event since the demise of the Hertford Half Marathon some 20 years ago and we think it will be popular.
The race is multiterrain, approximately 10k, and the route uses the Cole Green Way and the lanes through Hertingfordbury, Staines Green and Letty Green. We have a UK Athletics permit so the race will be run under UK Athletics rules which means you must be 15 years of age or older on race day to enter.
Our headquarters will be the Richard Hale school, the start is
adjacent to the Hertford Town FC and the finish in County Hall car park.
All proceeds from the race will go to the Mayor's nominated charities, which this year are The Ron Pickering Memorial Fund
(www.rpmf.org.uk) and the Royal British Legion (www.britishlegion.org.uk).

our runners some encouragement and a cheer as they pass by.

Wow .. Excellent idea! .. this will be like doing a Richard Hale Cross Country route ! .. will we be allowed to take short cuts like the old days?!

Very naughty! Don't forget everyone will be numbered and we will
have lots of marshalls and people hiding in the bushes to make
sure no one cheats.[;)]

Yes, entries received by 22nd March will have numbers posted back
to them; entries received in the post after that date will need to pick their numbers up on the day at Richard Hale School, in good time
for the race start.

Last call to all runners - we still have plenty of places if you would like to join us on Sunday. We have 250 people entered and many more registering on the day. The race will be covered live on Hertbeat Radio - if you aren't up to running you can still come and support. The start is beside Hertford Football Club, the finish in front of County Hall, and you can see the runners pass through Hertingfordbury and Letty Green.

Don't know my "official" time as I didn't hang around afterwards to see the results. I made it about 52 minutes by my watch, so around my usual 10k time. Anyone know if the official results are available online anywhere?
Many thanks to the organisers for a superb event yesterday, and great to see such a turnout despite the numbing cold (it took about 2K before I could feel my fingers).

Well done Rachel, Joby and everyone who took part.
I finished processing all the results at 1.30 a.m. and I'm at work now so I haven't got them with me, but I will e-mail your exact times to you if you like. I will get the results put on http://www.runherts.com as soon as possible and if I can track down any photos I'll post them as well.
Joby, were you wearing gloves? I was out at 6 am putting the signs up around the course and got thoroughly soaked through. It was well worth all the planning as everyone seems to have had a good time and I couldn't have put the event on without all the superb helpers, so my thanks to them.
And of course thanks to you runners for turning out and supporting us!
