Don't think there will be any particular impact round here. It was a bit long winded to view all the options for the current situation and proposed changes but it looks like there should be nothing coming over the top of Hertford at less than 4000 ft.

Is it just me, or have we all become so accustomed to increased noise levels that we airbrush them out of our sensory perception. I never notice planes overhead normally. Thanks to this thread, I'm hearing every one now.

My friend flies out of Stanstead and says it will improve noise over Hertford, Ware and the surrounding villages - so good news for us. Bad news for anyone living in Stortford or the surrounding areas!

Looked to me like the planes will be concentrated in a much smaller area over hertford.

I find that the volume and height of flights is very sporadic anyway. Last year I noticed a lot more planes over Hertford, or at least, they were lower. You can hear evening planes every day now. I'm a regular user of Stansted, and on two occasions, coming into land, the plane was low enough that I could see the cars in my Mead Lane Drive office and was able to work out who was in the office and who wasn't. I was shocked (by the low flight, not who was in the office!). My friends in Hoddesdon (Rye House end) has really noticed the difference over the past could of years. We sat out for a BBQ last summer and it was very obvious how noisy it had become. I don't think the proposed changes of route will have an impact on Hertford, but I think the growing volume will.
