I noticed last night that the Wetherspoons has a digital grand piano! Not sure when it would be quiet enough to play it, but it's got to be an asset!

Exactly! I only ever play the piano in public if I know the audience and know that they want to ehar piano! I didn't play it last night cos the peeps sitting nearby looked like they didn't want their fun spoiling... I posted here, because I can't really imagine any evenings in there where it could be played - they either seem to have music on or something. Surely they'd turn the 'normal' music off for a pianist? If they had proper pianist nights, I'd make a special trip to listen to a professional. Must ask next time I'm in! Was it a proper pianist they'd got in or an enthusiastic punter?

I was in there on Sunday too (sitting right next to where the grand piano is) but never heard a pianist. I know I was tipsy enough to not notice the piano when sitting right next to it, but to not notice it being played, well... what time was that, shiraz?

I noticed today, that having lured customers into the new pub, they have now started putting the prices up. The Fish & Chip meal, which was last week £2.99 has now risen to £3.10. One of the barmen told me that all the beer prices had gone up as well. Stand by for more insidious price hikes

I had a nice salad there on Tuesday which cost me over £5; a less healthy option may have been cheaper (I think I had 2 meals for £5.99 the previous time). My friend was happy with the prices of his pints though at something like £1.79 pint. I don't know how much my Rioja was but it was very nice wine. Anyway, to keep this on-topic, I've still not seen anybody tinkling the ivories, although I may pop in tomorrow for a couple [:0] [;)] [:D] I'll ask when the next recital is next time I'm in.
