Guess
I thought you all might like to see this and see if you know where abouts in and around Hertford it is.
I think it would be a real shame if this goes to ruin without people knowing of it.

It is on the land that once belonged to the baker family.
It is in the woods between Hertford and bayford, it used to have a sea mine beside it on a plynth (???spelling)aprox 30 years ago. Its a great walk.

I wondered what was surrounding it at some point
The memorial is to several Baker family members including a Henry Baker who was the commander of the HM Sloop Pelican he drowned in 1804 off Morant Bay Jamaica and also Charles Adolphus Baker who also died at sea of the coast of Newfoundland his ship was the HM Drake

Thats interesting I think my 4 x Gt Grandfather worked for the Baker family, he married and died in Bayford though I have never been able to find out if he was born there.
At least I was right about it being a memorial even if I was wrong on the location!
