Ware Road past and present
I recently found an old photo of my great grandfather and was trying to work out where it was taken.
At the slides evening on Friday I showed it to Peter Ruffles as I was sure he would know and sure enough he was able to point me to the exact spot outside the workhouse/kingsmead school entrance in Ware Road, in those days about 1910/1920 only one house was obvious and few in the distance, I went up yesterday morning and found the house and took a photo in almost the same spot to compare, if I can work out how I will post the picture here if I am allowed.
Maybe admin can help me there I know they have to be a certain size and mine are too big!

Fantastic photo Marilyn. The one of your Gt Grandfather is pretty good too!
Do you know what his trade was? Presumeably this was a pic of him at work?

Thanks to Admin for doing the photos for me!
He was the "Muffin Man" they are muffins in the tray, health and safety would have a fit these days, not vacuum packed.
If you know anyone local who is 90 plus they may remember him! He used to walk from Hertford to Bishops Stortford / Hoddesdon all over the area.

Have you seen the muffin man he lives on Pooort Hill!
Well he did 1894ish -1927 anyway!
