My sister used to live in a house near Hertford North station, was haunted. Think she was in the Mercury about it..!

I can recommend 'Haunted Hertfordshire' by Ruth Stratton & Nicholas Connell - this book contains 12 pages on the haunted places of Hertford. All the places listed on Sloop's map are featured plus a few more on the outskirts of the town;
- Jenningsbury - haunted by Benjamin Cherry who committed suicide in 1785
- Balls Park - haunted by a 'Grey Lady'
- Leahoe House - where a ghostly nun has been seen
- A modern flat in Cowbridge, built on the site of a former knacker's yard and where the apparition of a horse has been seen (in the flat)
- Port Hill and Gallows Hill
There is also a separate entry for Bengeo which describes an 'unusual looking turreted house' where the figure of a woman has been seen and where the smell of perfume drifts around the house when no-one is wearing any. I have also been told of an old cottage near to the Harts Horns pub that is supposed to be haunted.

Can anyone pinpoint exactly were the gallows were on gallows hill? I know it was somewhere on the pinehurst side.
