Day trip - on the train!
Hi,
Fancy a day trip out next week and given the price of petrol was wondering where is good and accessible by train from hertford... any recomendations? Presumably if we book far enough in advance we can get a very decent price.

If there are four or more of you, you can get "four-for-two" tickets from Hertford North and Hertford East.

I have done brighton on a day trip which wasnt too bad a journey, quite cheep too. Especially with deals. I got it for around £17 return with my young persons.

Cambridge and Ely are within easy reach. They do require some walking and/or bus travel to/from the station though.

Hertford North to Finsbury Park
Finsbury Park to London Victoria
London Victoria to Brighton

Or if you going on a Saturday, go to Kings Cross, St Pancras, and then Thames link (or whatever its called these days).

Going via Kings Cross/St Pancras may be cheaper too as you don't need to use the tube.

ah ok great - the brighton trip does sound like a good one! fingers crossed for some brighter weather next week :)
In fact can then pop into london on the way back perhaps.

I got the train back from Brighton and it was perfect - Brighton to King Cross - Hertford North. Easy.
I'm sure it's the same going the other way.
Well worth a day trip.
