The £1.5m house that Churchills had for Sale on St Andrew Street appears to have sold at last. The note on the door refers to deliveries for the Hertford Tea Room, and I recall there is a building in the garden that had permission to be used as such.

Saw something in the mercury this week about the tea rooms and the pictures looked good. Might treat the wife to tea and cakes one day this week [:D] will report back after [:D]

Yes,the tea rooms is in the old cinema at the side of the house, I would like to know who bought this house, it's quite a crumbling wreck!

They've certainly invested in advertising - a full page in the Mercury doesn't come cheap. We wish them all the best and please can we all hang fire on the bashing until they've a chance to open their doors/iron out any wrinkles....!

Tried the Hertford tearoom today, pleasant staff and surroudings, only had snacks today but it seems promising.

if you walk in the EXIT of St Andrews Car Park, it's garden entrance is there. Alternatively, you can walk down the alley way just past the model car shop

I visited the Tea Room on Saturday with a friend and we both thought it was great. Fine choice of cakes all reasonably priced and drinks served in bone china cups. As I am attempting to control the size of my bottom I had no cake on this occasion, however my friend who has no such issues had coissants and tea for £2.65 which we thought was very reasonable. The atmosphere is nice and chilled and not too crowded with tables either. We will definitely be back! [:)]

Had afternoon tea here today and was pleasantly surprised. Nice selection of sandwich's and cakes. The scones, clotted cream and jam were really good too. Waiting staff were attentive re-filling tea pot without being asked. Kids loved the garden which was nice and clean including the knight ! Another reason for the review though is after talking to the manager/owner ? they will be launching an evening menu on Fridays and Saturdays. This will be pre booked tables only (my view, this will probably change)small set menus with live Jazz both nights. Personally I can't wait especially if you can book a table in the garden area. If the food is good I can see this being a really nice place to enjoy a summers night meal. Good luck if it happens and I hope enough people hear about it and give them a try.
