jammin' sessions
don't know if this is the right place to post this but i'm looking to meet some like-minded people who are interested in meeting up on a regular(ish) basis to 'make music' sans innuendo. I'm an average guitar player and really just looking for people that would enjoy improving together, having a laugh (and maybe a beer or two!) and hopefully appearing on top of the pops (if they bring it back).[:D][:D][:D]

You'd be surprised just how many are around.
For a more formal evening try the Ram in Fore St on alternate Thursdays - home of the excellent open mic ran by a bloke called Dave. Really good last night ! Next one I think is on October 2nd ( Someone correct me if wrong )
The Woodman in Chapmore End has two a month. First and third Mondays. The early one appears to be a more formal "folk" night and the latter an open jam session.
The Lord Haig has two jam sessions a month. On the second and fourth Monday each month. ( I think this is because some of the people there also go to the Woodman )
The original Hertford folk ( I think that's who they are ) meet in the Great Eastern on the last Thursday in the month. Some very talented and interesting people get in there.
Waggers in Ware ( only a 395 bus from HERTFORD !!!! ) has rock jam nights on 1st Wednesday of each month.
In addition there is/was Ellis' open mic at the Marquee best contact them for dates.
Also the excellent sessions in the Castle foyer from time to time.
Slightly further afield from HERTFORD there are excellent Irish sessions in St Albans and rock sessions in B.Stortford. Really all over ! Internet search and you'd be amazed.
I've been to all of these and believe me they were all very welcoming, friendly and inclusive as I have found almost all musicians themselves to be.
An alternative of course would be to go to your local pub, speak to the landlord and start your own. I'm sure in these difficult times they would welcome any additional help to bring in custom. Just stick it up on here.
Build it and they will come !!

by the way... please don't stop there... if there are any more live (i.e not concert but listen while you have a drink) music goings ons, it'd be great to hear about them (although I'm probably now treading into wrong area for posting now...?)

I had my first (unofficial) guitar lesson on Saturday and really enjoyed it so may get into that. I play piano normally but sadly that is not portable, although I'm looking out for a decent keyboard for playing in bands (any ideas?).
You'll find lots of live music in the local area, as already mentioned. In fact I didn't know the Woodman had two a month!
