Been into Bircherley Green today paid for my ticket stuck it to the windscreen as I always do. When I came back it had fallen off and a PCN was on my car, I have e mailed explaining wondered if it has happened to anyone else? Did you get the PCN cancelled?? In all my 35 plus years driving in Hertford I have never had a parking ticket here or anywhere else so don't know the criteria for getting one cancelled. Was a little annoying to drive out of the car park and see the number of cars parked on double yellow lines without PCN's!!!

Fell off? Do you mean it fell off the dashboard, or do you mean you stuck it to the windscreen and it fell off?

Yep it says stick it to the windscreen so thats what I always do, never fallen off before! It fell into the drivers footwell so they would have had to peer in to see it , probably not allowed to do that!

Doh! Sorry! Was it a case of the sticky stuff not being sticky enough or was there just an insufficient amount of sticky exposed?

In future, just put in on your dashboard, face up, Marilyn. You are displaying a valid ticket that way.

They would probably think that you asked someone else for their ticket after you got the PCN. The fact is that you weren't displaying a ticket, so technically you were committing an offence. Galling I know.

Exact same thing happened to me in the car park on St Andrews Street. The pcn was waived as a "gesture of goodwill " although they did point out that a valid ticket was not on DISPLAY.

Unfortunately car parks are easy pickings and the wardens don't venture very far to ticket the idiots that ignore double yellow lines or park in stupid/inconsiderate places. You should get the fine cancelled - I did when a warden ticketed mrs P (She did have a valid ticket)

Just to let you know got a letter today to say they have cancelled it on this occasion but if it happens again it may not be cancelled. I am going to make very sure it NEVER happens again !

If you do place the ticket on the dashboard, always check it is still in place after closing the car door.
