Anyone out there able to help?
I was taken north by parents in the fifties and have left behind all of the local connections.
My grandparents, Percy and Liz Medcalf had the "Unicorn" in Hartham Lane. Can anyone fill me in with local relatives?

Thanks Steve, I thought the pub was gone altogether. Most of my relatives worked for the brewery one way or another, the men at any rate!

can't help with your query but a branch of my family ran the Unicorn in the mid 1800's my gt gt gt Grandfather died there in 1860 when it was run by his daughter and her husband

I lived at 104 Port Vale but notice from Google maps it's gone as is the railway embankment next!! Any ideas when? What happened to the Withers family that lived there? Sid, Doll, Pamela? It held a lot of memories for me as I started school from there before moving north.

I have sent you an e mail as I may have found some info that may be of use re the people you mention.
The only houses I can think that were demolished were those where the Scout Hut stands but that was in the late 50's I think.
The Unicorn no longer stands, we now have a Sainsurys Supermarket on the site!
