Dangerous roundabout
Firstly I apologise if this has been mentioned before.
The roundabout off the A10 (the one with McDonalds on it), for drivers wishing to come off the A10 (southbound) and go all the way right to the last turn off before the garage - if you correctly switch lanes to go left (and there's a queue of cars waiting at the lights) you are left sitting in the pathway of traffic wishing to continue down the A414 into Hertford. The times I have witnessed near misses there [:0] Is anyone else concerned about this?

You must be beginning to think everyone is ignoring you Millie! I too used to have problems there: Coming from town to go on the A10 south you have to get in the left hand lane a lot earlier than would seem logical if you don't want to end up going straight back to whence you came! In my experience big roundabouts are invariably confusing.

No the roundabout isn't dangerous because the council has spent vast sums of taxpayers' money on installing traffic lights and street lighting.
Surely you can't be suggesting that the traffic lights were a waste of time and money, and have in fact made the roundabout more dangerous.

um......not the street lighting and the traffic lights have made it less of a salmon suicide leap trying to pull out from the garage BUT something needs to be done about the problem I mention. Not sure what though, maybe the timing on the traffic lights needs adjusting or drivers wanting to head straight on down the A414 could be filtered to take the left hand lane only? I don't pretend to be a traffic expert.

I'm no traffic expert either but it seems ludicrous to me to hold traffic ON the roundabout with traffic lights - surely the point is to get traffic OFF a roundabout as expeditiously and quickly as possible, and thus only have traffic lights with suitable timing patterns on the approaches. Would have been flippin' cheaper too..

Traffic lights or roundabout. Traffic lights
and roundabout is a sign of a badly designed road system, badly bodged in hindsight. One defeats the object of the other.

I agree with you Millie - it's awful. Accident waiting to happen. They changed the lane markings on the B1502 coming up to the roundabout too which has exacerbated the matter I think. God, hope I got that road number right:)
