Thomas Gripper
Antiques Roadshow last night - Great Great Grandson of Thomas Gripper was getting a silver salver/tray valued. It had been presented by the people of Hertford for getting them parliamentary representation. 258 people forked out a shilling each. But they actually paid for a decent piece of silver to be bastardised, didn't get it restamped by the assay office and it means it's now worthless.
Gripping stuff.

I recorded it and watching tonight.
My Dad tells me he lived at "The Slopes" on Port Hill. Gripper is a name that comes up quite often in Hertford books etc.
