Shock horror - a new shop opening in Bircherley Green, and it's another independent. Lots of brown paper in the windows, but the signwriters have been in. "Just The Thing" - not sure what they're going to sell - is next to Boots in the small unit that used to be a card shop.

Can't see it being a florist with so many already here, I know The Bouquet is closing for personal reasons but even so they had Blossoms almost next door to taht unit and couldn't keep that going as there was not enough trade and that had Interflora membership which a new one would't get for some time. I can remember sometimes being in there for hours without a customer and that was during the good times.

I don't think a florist would be called "Just the thing" would it? Sounds like the sort of name you'd give a shop that sold nic- nacks, gifts, vases, crafty type things. E.g. someone is browsing for a gift for a great aunt and sees a pot pourri holder in the shape of a dolphin... "ooh, that's just the thing for Ethel...etc". Either that or another bookies [;)]

Passed the shop this morning. Has a banner declaring Grand opening. Passed three times and each time the owner(?) was standing by the window with her arms folder and looking up and down the mall. Might just be the bad weather. Time will tell! And yes Brockman the shop is selling………………………….knick-knacks. How long it will last?
