We are just a bit too far south of last nights snow line I think it ran from Luton to Royston. Schools are closed in Royston today.

Well I hope it's rained a lot today as it might make my walk up Byde Street a little easier tonight. Still cannot quite understand why the council will make sure the roads are ok but never bother with the paths! I actually think an injury from someone falling on a path would be worse that an accident in a motor vehicle. After all in the bad weather we have had you wouldn't be going faster than 25mph so an impact at that speed car on car probably wouldn't cause as much an injury as a slip and fall on a pavement where you could easily crack your head open or break a bone. I know that is all hearsay but aren't the council responsible for the highways as well as paths?

I can recommend an RX8 - sideways travel in Bengeo is just so much more fun than going straight! Marilyn, I was driving at < 10 mph from one side of Royston to the other this morning, more like < 5 mph in the town centre itself, and I had to recover from several incipient spins. It was horrendous. Think I'll walk to the Hertford Film Club event tonight - even in my big boots, it's gotta be easier than driving!

I remember sledging down the hill that in opposite the turning for Lys hill Gardens. It’s the one that has the path running down beside it from The Avenue and brings you out near the Mole wood pumping station. Don’t know if it’s private property now or not but I certainly remember going there as a child and we even used to see one of our school teachers there with his professional looking wooden sledge as opposed to our plastic tea tray!

I saw people using a couple of estate agent's 'For Sale' signs for sledging up at Waterford Heath on Monday. Good to see recycling being taken seriously.
