Errrrrrrrrr...........1 new addition to a single playground each year. Divide the cost by the number of times each has been played upon and it's probably more than good value for money.

I think - from memory - that the whole playground is to be shifted nearer to the swimming pool to allow for the construction of the skatepark where the newest equipment is currently sited. Surely, the Council won't be erecting new equipment just to move it again shortly???? Just imagine the view across to Bengeo from Hartham Lane once the skatepark is constructed - concrete pipes, high walls, tag - "art". Can't wait. Just hope that there is not too much swearing from the skatepark and that the little darlings in the sandpit won't be able to hear it.

My comment was tongue in cheek, the Hartham kids playground is the best one locally and I hope any changes at the park aren't at it's expense. My kids like it as it is.

I agree its the best around. We live a few miles away now but my kids were always wanting to go there last summer rather than to our local ones. I'm not sure about the sand there though - I mean, cats and dogs can get in and we all know what they do!!!

The sandpit is excellent. I have never known there to be any animal 'mess' in it. And it always amazes me how quickly it drains after rain. I think the park could do with a substantial climbing frame structure. Perhaps not quite on the scale of the £3 million behemoth just opened at Alnwick Garden in Northumberland..........but a nice climbing frame would be good.

There's good climbing/play equipment at Adventure Castle over at Balls Park - one of those indoor play centres for younger children. A good place to go on wet, cold or damp days. Knebworth has got a large fort type structure with large slides suitable for older children.

re the skatepark - is there a better suggestion for where it should go? as for swearing etc, isn't that blatantly generalising? as communities, we are always saying there should be places for young people to 'go' 'gather' etc but then as soon as something is done, people slam it. Of course not everyone will be happy with whatever decision & many will think some types of people shouldn't be encouraged to visit common land but the point is, at last something is coming together to encourage these sporty members of the community to get together in a place where they are allowed to be just as much as the rest of us.

Took son down there last Sunday - all very nice and new additions to the playground i noticed since the summer - i can assume this is a good thing. Was nice not to see the local drunks hanging around there which unfortunatly has stopped us going to the park at castle hall!

Some people on this forum really are miserable gits! If anyone wants to be put off visiting or moving the hertford then this is the place to come. I'm looking for a playground in Hertford to take my daughter to and any park mentioned on this forum is closely followed by someone moaning about something to do with it. It seems to be the same old culprits as well. Are some people never satisfied?? There is always a "yes, but..." attitude to anything anyone suggests on these forums. Where are all the young optimisitc members? I imagine most of you guys to be tucked up with Horlicks about now for your afternoon nap. Come on people, have some of you never lived? Visit some of the inner london parks and you will soon have something to moan about. Hertford seems nice to me although I have only been here a short while. I feel like I'm living on another planet after reading some peoples views on Hertford. Please, can we have some positive vibes on this forum??

Greg, I am sure that you will enjoy Hertford. I think forums like this do produce negativity. We have great parks, the river, good access should you wish a break. I'm sure you will love it and meet the more positive people. Hopefully see you in the BH in December [:)]
