What do you use to get rid of Limescale ( in Hertford [:p] ) as I have been using Viakal spray - it is near useless as it leaves horrible marks behind on my stainless steel drainer & taps. Thanks!

It is a real problem in Hertford (just to keep it relevant!). I use the Viakal liquid, but don't know if this is any different than the spray. I've found that if you rinse it off properly and then wipe the area dry it doesn't leave marks. Having tried other limescale remover brands (because it's such a big problem locally!) I haven't found anything better at actually removing the limescale.

You could try Kilroc-K I think you can still get it in somes Boots, but be careful it's very stong and rinse well, but I use Viakal liquid and rinse again very well...

I use a product from Lakeland (no Hertford branch but will deliver to Hertford), scrub free.Just spray onto stainless steel - draining boards, taps shower heads - leave as long as possible then rinse off.Works every time

We use what can only be described as a 'miracle' cloth. All you have to do is rub over the area and it removes the limescale and brings your taps up nice and clean. You don't have to wet it or anything. If it's heavy areas of limescale then it takes a little longer but if you keep on top of it then it's great.

Always used something called Lift-Off for really stubborn bits (like cleaning out shower heads). Was available from Aqua City back when it used to be a proper plumber's merchants, not sure whether they still stock it now.

we have found it impossible to get rid of the water marks from our glass shower screen and have pretty much resigned ourselves to them being a permenant feature. I've tried Viakal spray and liquid, Cillit Bang (useless!!), white vinegar, Flash with bleach etc etc. Vinegar seems to work best, but stinks and then you have to spray it with lemon juice to get rid of the smell. I look forward to hearing what other Hertfordians use to get their shower screens sparkling clean.

I find Mr Muscle '100% Limescale distroyer' good in the bathroom. But for my stainless steel kitchen sink I use Homecare 'Shiny Sinks' cream and finish it off with Cif 'Stainless Steel' cleaner .....always brings it up a treat [:)]

Limelight spray or gel always works for me. I also use viakal but prefer limelight - available, Tescos, Waitrose, Sainsburys, Robert Dyas and all good hardware shops!!

For us, it was a last resort some years back after battling with the hard water in Hertford(washing machine/s kettles,dishwashers totally ruined due to the limescale build up despite using calgon in the washer) but we had a water-softener installed in our house. It (the devil limescale) has been so much better in the cleaning department, and has improved the washing of body and hair, clothes etc...(you do still need a hardwater supply for drinking though). For washing machines I can recommend soda a tablespoon or two softens the water....

Fear not all, I have the solution! I find it is good for pretty much anything, cleaning, cooking etc, very handy during domestic disputes as well. I agree, never leave: [img]http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41jEwQNOm8L._SS500_.jpg[/img] on for longer than 60secs, it can cause all sorts of problems. The last time I used it in the bath, my partner came out in a funny rash after a good long soak. However still good mixing a bit in with baby oil, makes a massage extra spicy!!!!! THE DB
