Every thursday night I meet my wife at Hertford North and we head in to town for something to eat/drink. We usually go for a curry or chinese but as of last week the misses has hit the fitness craze and as such my curry night has all but gone. So I was wondering if anyone has any good suggestions as to where to go? Was thinking Deco but we'd probably need to book as it's a Thursday.. Thanking you.

couldn't you still go for a curry but ask the mrs to have something from the grilled section?......

Ah sorry forgot to mention she's a veggie so makes it a little harder unless she goes for grilled veg! Actually you might be on to something Teddylad

Baan Thitiya? Loads of lovely veggie dishes - she could have one of the curries (without rice it she's feling really healthy), which are just gorgeous. Mmm, now my mouth's watering...[8)]

We ended up in Deco and have to say wasn't overly impressed. Veggie option was terrible. My meal was good but the veggie option was poor. Shame really as it was the first time we'd been there. Warren Peace - I'd think we'd defo. pop in for the film club. I see they have some classic films on show over the coming weeks.

Don't disagree Mr.P. I will try Deco again without a doubt. Can't only try something once and never again. My meal was very nice, my wifes wasn't. Next time they might both be spot on. Millie - I'm sure you'll have a great night.

I can only speak from experience, and having taken my mum who is a veggie to Deco I can say that she was impressed. It's a shame when youre looking forward to trying somewhere new that it doesn't live up to expectations. I have read on other posts that people have been happy with what is on offer at Deco and hope if you go back the wife has a better experience. By the way what did you both eat so I know to avoid the veggie option [:D] [:D]

We had a lovely evening/meal [:)] Full report I had the cream of chicken and tarragon soup which was divine. Hubby had the pate which he said was nice but a bit bland. The main courses were wonderful and I was upset that I just couldn't eat it all. I had the steak (mushroom and garlic sauce) with triple cooked chunky chips and vegetables...yum! Hubby had the burger with fries which he really enjoyed. Lovely £20 bottle of plonk too [:)] We didn't have dessert as we were too full. Came to £70 Service was very good although without sounding harsh I'd say a little too attentive...probably because the restaurant was quite quiet. We were asked several times if everything was ok and if we needed anything which became a tiny bit irritating....but don't want that to be taken as heavy criticism - we left her a nice tip [:)] Not able to put my finger on what isn't quite right yet...maybe the ambience? It's all done out very lovely (including the loos) but something is missing - maybe it was just because it wasn't very busy? The acoustics don't help, they reinforce that the room is fairly empty..maybe they need padded doors or carpets in places? You lose the sense of intimacy when it feels like you're eating in a fairly large echoing space. I don't want any of that to suggest we didn't like it and enjoy ourselves. Would definitely recommend and shall certainly be going back. Hope they change the menu around every so often but NEVER drop that steak.
