Keep clear road markings
Just wanted to see if this was something that effected others.
I live off Ware Road and have to come out of Fairfax road everyday, at certain times of the day to turn right is simply not possible! The inconsiderated motorists that sit in the traffic on Ware road will happily leave me sitting there indicating right for 5 mins or more (5 being the most my patience allowed) where i then give up and try to turn left and later double back. My point is could we not have some keep clear boxes at the entrances to the roads coming off of Ware road to erradicate this problem. I'm not going to waste my breath taking this further unless I can be made aware of others with the same issue!

It doesn't seem an unreasonable idea to me. Better vfm than the Christmas Tree of lights at the new crossing or the blue light at the hospital

Mike, this is the sort of thing that is discussed at the Hertford Transport Forum. Not easy to get invited on to this but the next meeting is Thursday 3 Feb. If you can diarise this and re-post on this bnoard for my attention will raise it for discussion. Alternatively I think my details are available through this board so can always email me as well.
The matter will be passed over to someone at Highways and knowing how these things go if the matter is raised there are plenty others around the table who will have a view. Not promising anything but can always try.

Hi sloopjohnb, sorry I clearly didn't see your reply to this back in January. Strangely enough I have moved house since then, I now live in Currie Street and have exactly the same problem 100m down the same road, except its 10 times worse! It is impossible at many times of the day to turn right out of Currie Street and It is no longer viable to turn left and go round the roundabout at thepolice station corner and come back! So I am stuck, i'm sure there are plenty of others on the street and surrounding streets who feel the same and look forward to getting to know some of them and finding out their views. For now what can I do?

OK Mike, the next forum is now ealy May and in the daytime so that certain people from Highways who never seem to be able to make an evening meeting (although everyone else can) can attend and reply to concerns. Will print this message board lout and take with me but if you want to email me in meantime no probs with that.

Ok thanks very much I think my posts cover it, I just feel that all of the turnings off of that stretch of Ware road need to be looked at. Clearly some thought has gone into it, due to the speed cameras, road islands and no entry signs. However it is still very difficult for residents of these side roads to pull out onto Ware road at busy periods of the day & I feel that keep clear road markings would prevent the less thoughtfull motorists blocking our roads when in stationary traffic etc...

That would require them to read the road markings - isn't there another post about drivers not being able to do that [;)]

ah yes but if they are there then I can have a moan at the drivers, where as at the moment they are doing nothing wrong they are just ignorant!
