Parking Dispensation
Does anybody know under which circumatances East Herts Council will grant parking dispensation in Hertford?
Aparantly, they will not grant one for shop refits which - makes it difficult as the salon I work in has been flooded & the plumbers, builders & repair men have to park in St Andrews Street carpark & keep going backwards & forwards from my salon in The Wash to their vans.
I can not work until the salon is fixed & at this rate it will take twice as long.

I don't know if it would help you but our kitchen shop is opposite St Andrew church in St Andrew Street and we have a carpark that if it was only for a couple of vans a day we could help you with the parking. If you think it might help pop in to see Elaine and me.

If you contact Gemipicorn she has to get parking dispensation sometimes for her husbands work she may be able to help with who to contact.

Knowing where you are, I can't actually think where you'd put vans nearer, without causing serious disruption, even with dispensation, which would make it unlikely that you'd get it. One option might be out of hours working. Costs twice as much per hour and you'd have to take a judgement on whether it would go twice as fast to compensate.

I usually don't have trouble getting dispensation for my husbands work. Having said that most of the time the projects he undertakes where the sites have parking issues tend to be short in nature and only require 1 or 2 days dispensation. Generally they are not in in busy town centres either.
I really think it depends on the circumstances such as the period of time and the potential disruption to traffic flow etc.

Millers Yard (behind jobcentre) has loads of parking spaces, cant you offer a free back rub to the owners in return for your builders to use a space for a wee bit? saves having to pay the council any more money!!!

I was thinking maybe the vans could park by the betting shop out of the flow of traffic. Then it occured to me, I think the landlord should be actually dealing with this as I only rent a room there.
I have managed to solve my problem now however, so will no longer be stressing over the salon repair/parking issue :)
