Why has half of Hertford painted their front door a pale pastel green colour ? Is there a job lot of knocked off paint going around ?

Your right of course , the actual figure is only 15% according to the latest Ipsos MORI poll , but its all very strange nevertheless .

If it's a slightly blue-y, chalky pale green then it's a colour popular with period property owners and approved of by Official Bodies who can tell you what colours to use if your house is listed or of historic interest. Personally, I think it looks quite good. If it's not the colour I'm thinking of, then it's merely a developing micro-pandemic and we're all doomed.

I always notice a lovely cottage on Wellington Street, at the junction with Nelson Street, in Bengeo. They've had that colour door for a long time and always make their garden look lovely; the door is "wrapped" by a beautiful pink clematis at the moment!

I love that front door on Wellington Street. I think it may be called Cotswold green, but I would love to find out for sure. I have been searching for that colour for ages. It must look gorgeous with the pink clematis out now.... very shabby chic!

I think this thread might be totally meaningless to the 49% of the population (less painters & decorators) who can only recognise @ 7 colours (my front door is blue not "stepping stone" ......... unless its the paintwork on our car (British Racing Green)[^]

The estate agents should change the picture though: it shows the lovely green door, but not the stunning clematis!

I see the house next door to the millstream is taking the green theme to the extreme... the front door, window ledges and even the brand new summer house in the garden has been infected by the pastel green plague!
