Is County Hall serving all?
In the week that Justice Minister Jack Straw has supposedly opened Family Courts to 'Press and Public' scrutiny, we also learn that 4 further members of the Haringay Council responsible for Child Welfare and Court Reporting are to be dismissed over the Baby 'P' tragedy! Is this Ed Balls' first signs of reform?
This reveals a systematic failure of Social Services throughout the country, though few make the headlines like Baby 'P', and we recently learn that Herts. Social Services are to invest over £800k in more newly qualified post graduate Social Workers when they should be employing Mothers returning to work after raising children to at least teenage years.
All this in spite of OFSTED giving both Haringay and Hertford a clean bill of health, but what do you expect from an organization, (OFSTED), who are regularly hoodwinked into giving schools higher accreditations then they deserve. The young and vulnerable that now appear to include those in retirement homes are regularly let down by these professionals who spend most of their time covering their backs and adhering to their manuals, when I say give the whistleblowers an amnesty!![8D]

Nothing to do with Hertford at all, definately off topic and as usual, a list of winges cribbed from low quality press, with no solutions or suggestions offered. Cheer up!

I really struggle to understand your angle Daveyone, on this and other posts which don't seem that specific to Hertford.
HCC does employ mothers returning to work; I am one of them, and I have to say great efforts were made to accommodate my reduced hours and find someone else to take up the rest of my original post so that there is no reduction in the level of service my particular role offers to the public.

Herts County Council made it onto the R4 news quiz, following the revelation that HCC is to spend £5000 of council taxpayers' money on showing children how to catch a bus. Sandy Toksvig observed that this proposal was put in place because health and safety legislation ruled out simply burning the money.

Is this true Aubend?
Have all your previous posts criticising County Hall, with your frequent suggestions of outlandish salaries, company cars and excessive benefits being splashed on employees at Town, District and County Council level actually been a mammoth smokescreen?
Wow - you had me! [:D]
