Are the Tourist Board serving Hertford well?
As someone often accused here of having a political agenda,I would like to show a more affectionate side regarding our County Town.
In these times of austerity I would think it incumbent on us to promote the towns many assets to attract visitors from home and abroad, when I have made such suggestions on national newsboards it has been met with arguements that people visiting London etc feel they are getting ripped of so feel it impotant that any local inicative shows what good value for money and interesting places there are in and around Hertford!
I would start with the Castle and excellent grounds fabulous of summer days to walk by the river and go on to the chuches and other fabulous buildings including the museum in Bull Plain. The Castle Hall has lots to offer and I have seen many great shows here not least John Coglan's Quo! Then there is the excellent surrounding countryside I can remember on Peter Ruffles former, now deputy Mayor leading a number of us around a Christian Aid walk in May 1974, and whilst it was raining it still left me in owe of the beauty of the countryside right on our doorstep, so many thanks for that from my former English teacher and head of year at the time!
Then to cap it all the numerous places in town to relax enjoy a good meal and capture the full atmosphere of Hertford so often rushed by and not always apprieciated![8D]

Tourists would be lucky to visit the Museum.....it's currently closed for quite a while!

Dave - I'm sorry to hear you feel impotant and owe the countryside something. I don't think its a competition to start as many waffling posts as possible and reply to none.
I'm not sure how/ where you could advertise Hertford except for particular events. The website for English tourism already has an excellent search function listing things to see in Hertford [url]
