plot of land behind London road/ Park Road
Hello, does anyone know what the old looking plot of land behind London road/ Park Road in Hertford is? My mate said it was an old police station or some kind of depot? I'm just wondering whether anyone knows what is planned for the site, whether there might be developments planned and if it might turn into a building site at some point in the future?
If anyone has any local knowledge I'd be very keen to find out.

You don't mean the Fire station, do you? I can't think where you mean, otherwise. Is there a building there at the moment?

ah ok thanks, cos there's a house on Park Road which I'm going to look at this weekend and I was just concerned that perhaps the land behind it was marked for developing houses on or something like that.
wondering now if you get noisy nee-naars all day and night though!!

You don't hear it. They don't start until they get onto the main road. We used to live at number 3 and now live on the other side, never been overly bothered by it. Good luck!

Hi - you don't really hear the noise too much as the ambulances and fire engines don't use the sirens till they get to the Ware Road. Actually, now I think of it, even the police sirens have lessened since they moved to the other side of town. Perhaps they are going West from their new position, more often than East [?]

It is. Number 1 is STC, Number 7 was on but if now off again, Number 3 has been on and off for a year or so.
We swopped about 5/6 years ago; a less stressful way to move home!

I really like the look of number 3, SMT, but the only thing that bothered me on the spec was the upstairs bedroom/bathroom access. any idea whether that house could be extended downstairs or upstairs to create another bathroom at some point?

Rooster, with all due respect, I initially asked the question about the area behind Park road for a specific and valid reason, which is to gain some local knowledge about an area of Hertford I dont know, in which I may buy a house. I got a response which moved the conversation along - what's wrong with that? Please request hertford.net to close down the thread if this kind of conversation is not allowed.

The Fire Station and HQ land is very likely to be sold off for housing within the next few years.
