homes under the hammer
Hertford's just been on Homes under the Hammer on BBC1 - an old shop next door but one to Empire Chinese takeaway. Been unsold since February apparently.

The auction buyer was a fruit & veg seller from Hertford. Bought at auction for £149k-ish and was on the market for £229k after laying some carpets. Was being rented by a local bar manager at the time the program was made (Feb 2009). this is the place http://details.vebra.com/property/1036/16277839

The layout of the downstairs is really bad and ill-thought out. You'd really feel like you're living in a shop and that the conversion was done on the very cheap.

Aparrently it was Steven Oates & Lanes who went round to value the property. Haven't seen it yet.

they valued it at between £205k and £210k back in Feb, but it's still on the market for £229k. Good luck to the guy trying to shift it for that price this side of the olympics!!

and there is tree (Buddlieia)growing out of the chimney pot!, so I dread to think where the roots are......
I think he has had to ask this price to cover what he paid at auction and solicitors fees etc. I think he owns an import business in Ware Road for fruit and veg...

We tried to watch Monday's Homes Under The Hammer via on demand & also BBC iplayer but it seems to be the wrong episode.
