Bircherley Green
Can anyone remember the name of the sweet shop that was opened in the early 1980's by Diddy David Hamilton? It was near Waitrose and only last a couple of years at the most. I remember being at school and the masses of people that gathered for the "grand opening" by Diddy! Most of my old school friends remember the opening but not the name of the shop.
Can people remember and other short lived occupants from that era (Index is another one that springs to mind)

I think it was called superstore or supershop.

When we moved here in '88 there was Pollards/Lyons haberdashers/household linens/lingerie shop where M and Co is now. Pollards had a few other outlets in east London and I often wondered if they were related to the Quaker Pollards who co founded Gravesons and constructed the first ragged school in Hertford. The opticians was a Share drugstore which was taken over by Superdrug. About a year after we moved here a charity shop opened where the mens hairdressers by the bus station is.

I remember the mens hairdresser by the bus station being a model shop where I spent much of my pocket money on model trains and airfix kits! Not many of those around these days :(
