Everything except Film 4 plus a few odd channels disappeared from my TV last night and the rest said "no signal" = still not back this morning Has anyone else got this problem (Sandy Heath transmitter)? [:(]

We receive from Sandy Heath and had no problems, what time was this an issue as it seemed to be working fine at around 10.45pm.

It may be worth doing a rescan for available channels?

Definitely plugged into Sandy Heath as I'm on the 'wrong' side of the hill for Crystal Palace. A rescan may fix the problem but I have had three boxes over the past five years as they're not very robust. I'm thinking of going for freesat to overcome these problems and receive HD; either that or I'll have to overcome my loathing of a certain satellite channnel provider!!

I had a similar problem a few weeks ago, shortly after the channels changed. I lost all of the channels and re-scanning didn't work. I thought it must be the box so I switched it off and unplugged it with a view to getting a new one. However I thought I'd give it one last go and reconnected it - hey Presto! Everything was back to normal. Not very scientific but unplugging and reconnecting somehow seemed to work.

If all else fails try a reinstall. Should be on the menu somewhere could also be called return to factory defaults etc, you will lose all your user defined settings and possibly recorded programs if it's a PVR.

Its weird because both the DVD recorder with it's own Freeview decoder and the digibox have both got the same simultaneously occurring problem. The only thing that connects them is a signal booster - but then - why are some channels getting through? I will look at the booster later but, if not - Freesat, here I come

There is/was nothing wrong at the transmitter. Mine often falls over on Mux B (which is on the highest channel and carries BBC4, Parliament and a number of radio channels) when it rains heavily. Have a look at the booster and aerial, check the leads, switch off the booster and then wait a while - I presume you have a decent aerial? Please don't go to Sky though.....

Yes- Mux B was always the problem until we got the booster which sorted it out. However the last few weeks have had some freezing/loss of sound problems now and then - until yesterday when just a handful of channels were left on the DVD recorder (which has always been better at at picking up the weaker signals) As both of the receivers have gone, I assume it must be something to do with the booster or the aerial. However the aerial is in the loft, is quite new and has not been a problem before I am getting more and more tempted by Freesat - does nyone have any experience of that?

Sorry about the last, don't know what went wrong as I rushed out of the door... Hmm... aerials in lofts aren't good when you're on the edge of the service area. Anyway at least it isn't water in the aerial - at least I hope not. Try repointing it, about 350 degrees (or 10 degrees West of North) is the direction from Hertford to Sandy Heath. Or it could be mice....

Problem solved - it was the booster ! [:D] I removed that and the signal came back up - fine on everything except Mux B on the Digibox again. Still tempted by Freesat though as Freeview picture breaks up now and then

Slightly off-topic, they started transmitting Freeview HD from Crystal Palace on Wednesday. There aren't any set-top boxes in the shops until next year though.

Freeview HD receivers aren’t expected to available until next February at the earliest. Cost is said to be around £70. This is for a receiver only not a PVR. No doubt one will follow in due course.
