Traffic standstill in town centre today
Anyone know what happened here today ? It can't have just been the broken down 4x4 outside Barclays. The Police cleared all the roads.

A policewoman blocking off Fore Street told me it was just for the breakdown. It seemed a sensible precaution to me.

I believe the AA tried to tow the 4X4 clear but the wheels had locked hence the traffic chaos!

There was police tape sectioning off the wall of Barclays Bank so had the car maybe driven into the brickwork causing it to be unsafe? Not that the tape would do much except show the danger?!
Glad i missed the traffic-spent enough time in the post office!

I've just walked by again and only now are they loading it on to a transporter. The police are no longer redirecting traffic. Consequently the whole town is gridlocked and a cacophony of car horns.

The tape was to keep pedestrians off the outer edge of the pavement, which was being used by traffic getting past the 4x4
