A414 Eastbound from Hatfield Standstill
Mrs LW has been stuck for the last 3 hours trying to leave Shires Park in Welwyn G C. She decided to opt for the A414 rather than the B1000 and has been stuck ever since.
Does anyone know what's gone wrong, I can only assume a serious accident given that the snow has stopped for over an hour and a half?

Just took me 3 hours from WGC. Once I had cleared the Hertingfordbury roundabout the traffic seemed ok. The problems of snow made worse by two lanes merging into one on the 414.

There is no "merge thread" facility in Snitz
Plus, the other thread title covers all aspects, rather than just A414 traffic from Hatfield.

3.5 hours from HAtfield last night to Hertford. No sign of accident, just heavy traffic and snow. Probably made worse by M25 problems and people using A414 instead.

Mrs LW eventually got in at 9.15pm! She left work in WGC when I called her at 4:45pm at no stage was there any evidence of the cause of the hold-up. Just bizarre....at least we're not as badly stuffed as Basingstoke

Not a Hertford-specific issue, but read up on Atlantic thermohaline circulation, azzza.
How are the roads out there today? Have many people ventured out? Had successful journeys? Got stuck?

roads are clear, and fine, i travelled up to cambridge first thing this morning.

Main roads are fine, had to go to Enfield at 6am Port Hill, 414, A10 were fine it is the side roads that are still very tricky. Been in to Hertford and the roads again are clear but the pavements will be a nightmare if/when it freezes

Slightly off topic, but I don't think every bit of weather can be attributed to global warming. Believe it or not, historically we do get a bit of snow in the winter [;)]
