When I lived in Germany we had 2 sets of tyres for our car. By law you have to change to Winter tyres after a certain date. After we moved back here we continued to switch our tyres every Spring and Autumn. We were really quite shocked to see the difference they made. They can be bought quite easily from any tyre dealer though they wont carry the stock and will have to order them. You will, however, need somewhere to store them. Where I lived in Germany the local garage would store the spare set for a small (and I mean SMALL) fee. Getting them switched every 6 months would cost between £20 and £40 around Hertford.
