New Traffic Lights
Now that the new traffic lights have been installed at the Bluecoats roundabout and Mill Road junction, we'll have to wait until the new school term starts to see what effect they'll have. I see someone has already taken out their frustrations on one of the traffic lights!

Well, the school term has started, and it refreshing to see that the new traffic lights have made little difference. Nice to see tax payers money being used in a productive way. I can only assume Ken Livingstone was consulted before the alterations !!

Since the implementation of this system, the traffic down my road has doubled during rush hour, as everyone tries to find an alternative route to avoid the dual carraigeway. Why dont they just bite the bullet & build a bypass?

Have the lights worked??....i think they are just different....not better, not worse..........all a bit pointless really...

Actually I now find the biggest traffic jams to be based around the A414 roundabout with the bottom of Pegs Lane - especially when County Hall empties.
The second worst spot has to be at Old Cross traffic lights - the jam is always backed up right through the town in the peak time. No problems if the lights aren't working though.....hmmm....

Old Cross has always been controversial. The lights were installed without any public consultation. And when there was a consultation (following protests over the lack of consultation!), the result was "inconclusive". Your observation about free-flowing traffic when the lights aren't working has often be seen.

Whilst there appears to be an improvement at Mill Road, I'm not sure the same is true of Bluecoats.
