Gascoyne Way lane closures for 20 weeks

I have just read that Gascoyne Way will be restricted to lane closures for 20 weeks from tomorrow (15th March 2010). Apart from this not applying to peak hours, does anyone know what distance these lane closures are likely to cover?

When they say not peak hours does that mean daytimes of nighttime? or both. Port Hill is to be closed in the next few weeks but that is 8pm to 6 am I think.

I have read that lane closures will NOT be between 6.30am to 9.30am and 4.00pm to 7.00pm. By my calculations, the whole episode will go right up to the start of August and, what with Gascoyne Way car park closing for six months, I think it is safe to say that the motorist will be in for a rotten time.

What's new - Hertford quite clearly hates motorists, whether it's driving or parking

Disappointed at the weekend to see the cavalier way some of the temporary signs were slung on the roundabout on top of the wonderful display of crocuses. A little more thought by those involved would have been nice.

In what way does Hertford "hate" motorists? I drive a car and am also presumably 'a motorist'. With two of the biggest car parks in the town centre free, I can't remember when I last paid to park. I've only ever had one parking ticket in Hertford and that was my own fault for not checking the time. And whether it be potholes or wear and tear, obviously roads have to be serviced and repaired from time to time.

I suspect dennis means Tesco for one as long as you are under 2 hours, not sure of the other?

Both car parks mentioned as free are not council owned or managed - unlike the rip off charges at the council ones. As for on street parking restrictions, double yellow lines in previously available parking bays and a proliferation of wardens ...
