Red Squirrel Brewery
I picked up a free magazine in WGC yesterday & discovered that we have a brewery in Mimram Road Hertford.
Red Squirrel Brewery is an exciting new independent microbrewery based in Hertford, England, brewing World Class cask conditioned real ales and lagers.

Anyone know any more about it, tried any of their ales etc?

Yes have tried Red Squirrel ales in the Old Cross Tavern and used to be in White Horse but havn't been there for some time.

Gary has been brewing for several years now. He has won several prizes (East Anglia Camra?).
As well as being a fairly regular beer at the Old Cross Tavern, the Old Barge's OB is his beer in disguise.
It is also available from various pubs in Hertfordshire, London, and further afield.
The best beer for miles around.

Unfortunately the Red Squirrel beers should never have been in the White Horse as Fullers dictate what you can or cannot sell as guests (and make you pay through the nose for the privilege). The penalties for 'buying out' these days are simply not worth the trouble. Back on topic, the beers are excellent and I commend the OXT and Barge for being regular stockists. Had a nice pint of their IPA at the Great British Beer festival last summer.

Excellent beers...
You could by bottles of Gary's beers. The best in my opinion int the 'IPA in the USA' at 5.4%, just excellent!

Better lay in a supply if you want bottles as I believe he will soon be discontinuing bottling.

Before Fullers took over the WH, Ian (the landlord) owned the Dark Horse Brewery (in the same vicinity as where AGA used to be down the side of Wollworths). This used to be the House beer in the WH.
Prior to that he actually had the brewery in the WH (where the kitchen now is).

I tried to buy a few pints from them a few years back, but the guy told me the smallest container they came in was a Firkin at 72 pints. Not sure how long it would keep for, but doubt the missues would be too impressed with me rolling a barrel of beer in to the conservatory and telling her I had to drink the lot in a couiple of weeks!
