I was watching an old 1973 episode of the ITV programme "Thriller" called "File it under Fear" :- [url]http://www.mediagems.de/01filmtv/thrill_ep08.html[/url] ..anyway all the outside shots are filmed in Hertford. The programme features a number of murders most of which take place on the footbridge over the weir (where all the new flats have been built). Although one woman gets murdered in a red telephone box outside Hertford East too! The town is called "Penbury" in the film but is clearly Hertford. Maureen Lipman walks through the subway under Gasgoine way. Most of the action is centered around the towns library (although they use the current Manpower Services building in Castle Street as the library instead of the real one). Bet the current library staff would be amused to see this! Does anyone remember the filming of this back in 1973? It must have caused quite a stir back in the day with what was a very starry cast with Maureen Lipman , Richard O'Callaghan , John Le Mesurier , and Jan Francis all featuring.
