Duncombe Road Accident
Going down Duncombe Road today we saw at least 3 damaged cars and a lot of marks on the road, all looked a bit of a mess. Does anyone know what happened?

It happened at 2am on Monday morning, a young man was arrested after hitting three parked cars. Judging by the distance between the first car and where he ended up he must've been going quite fast.
Luckily we were away or our car might well have been hit too.

were lucky then. We came to the same conclusion about speed too after seeing the cars hit and the marks in the road.

At least no one was hurt, it could have been so much worse, I suspect a lot of speed was involved by the damage.

I think there was a certain amount of 'under the influence' as well which was a contributory factor. Certainly the person involved was taken away by the constabulary.
While the parking in Duncombe Road can be haphazard at times (who thinks it is a good plan to park opposite junctions!) it does normally help to slow down some traffic which thinks this is a major thoroughfare! Given the number of families and young children living on the road the number of people that still park on the pavement blocking them either for pushchairs or walking past is ridiculous.

It does amaze me the speed I have seen some cars still do along there though.[:0]

lack of consideration? it is almost certainly the residents who park their cars in the road!

BTW, I believe it was "drug driving" rather than drink driving - however I guess the effects and consequences are very similar...
