Sorry Del, it you are not park illegally, then its obviously not you! My sister said "a new local furniture restoration company", so I put two and two together. Please ignore any assumption! My sister lives in Gwynns Walk, which is a private road, not a public highway, and the legal road covenants state that no residents or visitors can park commercial vehicles in the road. However, I've seen when I go round there, quite a lot of vans ingnoring the residents rights and selfishly parking there anyway, even though they are actually trespassing. I think my sister is particularly uptight because she too has a commercial vehicle, but stores it off site every night, so she can keep within the rules. She hates the fact that she makes the effort, while other people don't bother. She says she has one neighbour (not the furniture people) who blocks the middle of the turning circle of the road every day. Have you got competitors Hertford? Maybe she can take them down for you!!

Sorry! I have just visited my sister in Gwynns Walk. There's me apologising, when it IS the Gilbert and Lally van parked illegally in the road. I went round to see her tonight and the road was full of inconsiderate commercial vehicle owners (5!) parked all over the place. Even though they have cars parked there as well (so my sister says). Del, I'm sure you are not aware (are you renting?), but Gwynns Walk is a private road, and clearly stated in the deeds (I used to live there) that NO commercial vehicles can be parked, to ensure harmony within the close. Vans can be parked up on Greencoats, but not in Gywnns Walk. Now that I have made friends on here, Del, can I tell her you will park the van where you are supposed to in future?

So, in effect, this is trespassing, right? As I understand it, trespass is currently a civil offence, as opposed to a criminal one. I would not interpret this as illegal parking, although parking a vehicle on someone else's private land is not exactly respectful or friendly.

Locallass, can you define the difference between a private and a public road. Is it stated that it is resident's parking only somewhere. And if it can as replied be considered trespass I will be able to persure EHDC for the Traffic Patrol Person that trespassed on my Company's land to give me a ticket whilst I was legally parked on said property. LOCALASS this topic was for a furniture sale not parking,but yes i own a place there,all youre sister had to do was ask!And im within my rights to park there,read the lease..Icant believe how rude some people can be,theres no need for these public attacks[:(]

Sorry for the delay, been away! Re-reading my last post, I realise its looked a little aggressive! Sorry Del! I'm not trying to attack anyone, simply sticking up for my sister who isn't a web user, but is having to pay solicitors to try and clear up her road. I used to live in Gwynns Walk, so I know the road well. It is a private road, and the deeds clearly state that residents are not allowed to park commercial vehicles. This is one of the reasons my sister moved there. Because the road should not have become unsightly with big vans. You can imagine how she feels when there are anything up to 5 vans parked out there, when there should be none. The worst offender is some guy (not you del) who parks a bloody great van in the middle of the turning circle every day. He's told people to F off when he was asked to move it. Anyway, consider it closed admin! I'll have to leave it to my sister and her lovely neighbours if we shouldn't discuss it here! Con
