Number 11 (Old Cross)
Food quality - Excellent. Although a very limited choice for their set Sunday lunch main course, so may not suit fussy eaters!
Service - Excellent.
Atmosphere - Good. The restaurant area at the back of the building is small though, with tables quite tightly packed in, so if it was very busy it would probably be quite noisy. Also, whilst the restaurant area is non-smoking, the immediately adjacent lounge area is smoking, & there is no division between the two.
Value for Money - Excellent. The 3 course Sunday lunch was £18 per head, and they had some good value wine.

I went in for Sunday lunch a few weeks ago and I concur that the food and the service were excellent. Honey parsnips, yum yum.
I didn't try the wine on this occasion.

Hi there,
Mr Trimble and I went to No 11 on Valentine's Day and really enjoyed it. The food was great, the service pleasant and the ambience pretty metropolitan - which can't be bad for Hertford. Well done for offering a real alternative to self satisfied provincial gasto pubs such as the Hillside!!!!!

[:D]lol luv the bit about the hillside! well my view on no.11 was that the food was very unusual but i really anjoyed it and the decor was amazingly well thought out! i'd utterly recommend it to any one of my friends. bit pricey for me though[:p]lol

I went on Thursday about 3 weeks ago and the food was indeed excellent, and the management generous when they made an error with our order. My only (tiny) grumble is that it was too noisy to carry on a decent after dinner conversation. But otherwise, v. v. good.

Twice last weekend.
Absolutley bloody deafening at 01:00 Saturday morning. I couldn't believe it when they turned the music up even further. My ears were bleeding and I think my internal organs are still vibrating.
And no, I'm not complaining.
Went back for a quick drink on Saturday evening to see what it was like earlier of an evening and to search for the pieces of my soul that the sub-woofers had blasted against the back wall the night before.
I'd go back, but pick my timing a bit more carefully.

Friday Night - Girlie Gossip over bottle of wine - Fine.
Saturday Night - Dinner with Hubby and friends - Really good food and excellent service but couldnt hear from one side of the table to the other.

Had a very enjoyable meal there on Saturday, food, service and wine were excellant. Very good value for money, (the deserts were fab)
My only gripe is the noise............it is deafening which is a real shame, but it is a bar /restuarant.
The restaurant was almost full, but I'll try a mid week next time.

any mid-week reccomendations then? tempted to go in the next few weeks.. How busy does it get?
Does it have a website? I googled but couldnt find it, tricky name to search for tho.

oh joy; No. 11 dont do food and havent done it since Christmas :(
I think they need to update their site, and indeed bar front!

Had my engagement party in there over the Bank Holiday weekend and we excellent. Laura and the staff were very attentive as usual and was a bit tiddly by the end of th night. Probably the Black Velvet!!!
