Aladdin - The Pantomime!
Oh yes, its that time of year when panto is starting to come to town. In the nearly finished Hertford Theatre (formerly the Castle Hall), this production by HDOS starts on Wednesday 12 January and has TWO matinees on Saturday 15/16 January and evening performances from the 12th. Tickets between £10-£12.00 and your local theatre group would love your support, so if you want to have a sing-song with Widow Twankey, want to see local people make local jokes and hiss at the baddies.. this is the pantomime for you! Tickets are going fast (trust me!) so contact the Hertford Tourist Information Office (behind Monsoon/accessorize in hertford (telephone number in the yellow pages etc) and book your tickets now.. We'd love your support now the cost of hiring this venue has gone up a lot, so please remember.. Its Aladdin!!!!

I think it's important to remember that, although I'm sure Cinderella, the "big" panto this year, is going to be excellent, Aladin by this local theatre group should equally be supported by the good folk of Hertford!

I went to see their pantomime last year and it was fantastic. Will be booking again this year! My son has no idea who soap stars are so the 'other' productions are not worth the additional cost for us!

Thank you Villager and VC1. It is so very expensive for any groups to hire the new theatre complex and it would a traversty if a facility we pay for out of our own council tax means its not possible to hire it!!! I am taking my niece and she has no idea how loud I can shout "he's behind you" yet!!! Thanks for your recommendations. [:D]

I have bought 12 tickets for 16th Jan afternoon production and I noticed there are quite a few more seats left. I have not seen that much advertising for Aladin but have seen lots for Cinderella.

Well VCI, Hertford Dramatic & Operatic Society are a group of local theatre performers who pay membership to belong to the group. It costs many, many thousands of pounds to both hire the venue and the performing rights, costumes, set, programme printing, etc, etd and advertising is expensive and we cannot hope to compete with the Hertford Theatre on that score, but we try, where possible and word of mouth is certainly a great help! We have a lovely display on Fore Street in the Dry Cleaners Window and remember, we all have day jobs! (Oh yes we do!) So please encourage your friends, their children and others, the cast is very, very strong and we love to have you in our audience cheering us on and hopefully singing along with Widow Twankey too. I am going on the Sunday matinee and cannot wait. We have, for over 90 years, provided the town of Hertford with a Pantomime, don't desert us now.. We need our local community support more than ever and in these "credit crunch" times our tickets are extremely favourable to all. So VC1 thanks for doing us proud and getting your tickets, but encourage others to come and see what its all about, so that we might entertain you all for at least another 90 years...... [:D]
