Phantom sticker
Has anyone heard of, or seen, or even own up to be the person who has been slapping pre-printed self adhesive stickers on car windscreens saying 'Pavements are for Pedestrians.' They are quite correct but one such sticker has already caused ill feeling between two neighbours of mine when one accused the other of being the so called phantom.
The new parking attendants are not yet allowed to book cars for obstruction although the ticket rate would soar if they could. It is a common theme on these boards about inconsiderate and dangerous parking but I didn't know someone was walking the streets like a modern day Zorro trying to put the world to rights. And BTW, these stickers do not come off easily - marketed perhaps by one of those lads who rush to clean your windscreen when stopped at the lights.

It is sometimes the case that vigilantes fill the vacuum when law enforcement is lacking. On more than one occasion recenty I've had to walk in the road because a parked car was blocking the pavement. Luckily I didn't have a child or push-chair in tow.

I saw a van at the end of Port Vale (beane rd end) last summer plastered in the things, I didn't know it was an on going thing.[:0]

Isn't that weird. I was only thinking the other day that I wish I had the bottle to do this and it looks like someone has!
Not sure how I feel about it. I know it's wrong but when I see the same bit of pavement with a car or van parked on it almost every time I walk past it, I wouldn't have any sympathy for any driver that was given a sticker.
Incidentally, I saw a van being ticketed by the police the other morning. It was parked on the pavement next to the post office in Fleming Crescent at 8.00am. You've got to ask how lazy someone like this is as there were plenty of spaces available outside the shops.

I think this action should be commended. People should be made aware that their actions are causing unnecessary danger to pedestrians.
We live off Park Road, and the pavement parking there is a nuisance and also becoming dangerous. To walk into town my wife has to walk in the middle of the road with a child in a pushchair because she can't get round the cars parked on the pavement on one side, and the cars on the other side are so close together she cannot get between them to get onto the pavement.
The other day a fire engine sized John Lewis van couldn't get through, as there were cars parked on both sides. It frightens me to think what would happen if it was a fire engine trying to get to an emergency.

Finally!! It really irrates me the amount of vehicles that park on the yellow lines and on the pavement around flemming cresent.

Yes, this has been raised as a topic before..........but it is well worth raising again. I have lived in hertford for over 10 years and have never had to 'dump' my car half on a pavement.

It seems to become habit with some people, I've seen nice wide clear roads and people still insist on pavement parking.
